Therapy for Anxiety, Perfectionism, & Disordered Eating

Therapeutic Approach

I believe that facing our challenges directly is key to overcoming them. Much like quicksand, the more we fight against painful emotions, the deeper we sink. When you experience this discomfort, you naturally want to get rid of it. You try to push it away and fight it. You struggle with it, but it only becomes stronger. In our work together, rather than fighting or pushing away the discomfort, we will allow and explore it. This may sound scary (and it is), but this will allow you to feel unstuck

As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I also help clients navigate body image concerns and disordered eating. I follow an anti-diet approach and use the Health at Every Size (HAES) model, which states that health is multifaceted and not determined by body size. If you are struggling with your body image, your body is not the problem. Our culture has created an unobtainable standard of the “ideal” body size. I understand how hard it can be to unlearn and challenge these standards. However, I also know that by doing so, you will learn that you are more than your body. Together, we’ll work on aligning your life with your core values.

I am an active psychologist who finds the balance between validation and challenge. I do more than ask, “How does that make you feel?” I will ask you to think critically while holding a safe space to feel heard and express your most vulnerable emotions.  As your psychologist, I aim to facilitate behavior change that allows you to live in line with your values. My approach is never cookie-cutter, but I tend to draw from specific theoretical orientations such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), relational, attachment therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This may include concepts such as reducing the impact of your negative thoughts, exploring your “whys,” learning to let go of control/handle uncertainty, identifying your values, and mindfulness.

I am so glad you are here.
